The counselling contract is very simple.
It exists to state to both the client and the counsellor what the session will involve, including boundaries, costs and commitments.
The contract also talks about Confidentiality. The relationship between you and I is private and confidential (aside from a couple of legal and ethical exceptions as shown in the Contract) and I will maintain your confidentiality.
Some clients come to me without telling anyone else and that’s fine, although others decide to share their decision with their partner, family or friends for extra support.
Some clients say that they are concerned that if they reveal that they have been to see a counsellor it might damage their career or reputation, hold up a promotion or affect the way people see them and I understand this can be a barrier to getting help.
